Milk Recipient Fund

Supporting Ventura County Families with Donor Milk

The Ventura Coast Milk Bank Milk Recipient Fund provides donor human milk to families in need of financial assistance. This fund helps ensure that families in need can access safe, pasteurized donor human milk from our partner, UC Health Milk Bank—regardless of financial circumstances.

  • Ventura County families who meet the following criteria may receive up to 100 ounces of milk at no cost (based on available funding):

    1. Must qualify for WIC and/or Medi-Cal, and

    2. Have a newborn under one month old whose mother’s milk has not come in yet, or

    3. Have a medical necessity and are waiting for insurance authorization

This early access to donor milk supports infant health, prevents complications related to supplementation, and gives families vital time while insurance coverage is processed.

  • All pasteurized donor human milk provided through the Milk Recipient Fund is supplied by accredited nonprofit milk bank, UC Health Milk Bank

  • This program is made possible through a generous grant provided by Conrad N. Hilton Foundation’s Good Neighbor Program. This grant supports our work of improving public health through accessible breastfeeding education and bringing pasteurized donor human milk to infants with a medical need in Ventura County.

About the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation

International hotelier Conrad N. Hilton established the grantmaking foundation that bears his name in 1944 to help people living in poverty and experiencing disadvantage worldwide. More than eighty years later, the work continues, concentrating on efforts to ensure healthy early childhood development and sustainable livelihoods for youth and refugee populations, support young people transitioning out of foster care, improve access to housing and support services for people experiencing homelessness, identify solutions to safe water access, and lift the work of Catholic sisters. Additionally, following selection by an independent, international jury, the Foundation annually awards the $3 million Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize to an organization doing extraordinary work to reduce human suffering. The Foundation is one of the world’s largest, with approximately $7.3 billion in assets. It has awarded grants to date totaling more than $3.6 billion worldwide, and nearly $300 million in 2024. Please visit www.hiltonfoundation.org for more information.

Developing milk banks must adhere to rigorous safety standards set forth by the Human Milk Banking Association of North America (HMBANA). While we work towards our accreditation through HMBANA as a nonprofit member milk bank, we have partnered with University of California Health Milk Bank to provide pasteurized donor milk to Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.
